About
Why Bokkaku?
Believe it or not, I’ve had this website for years. Almost 10, now. Back when I was young and starry-eyed and hoping to make my way in the art world (read: just graduated from High School), I decided to make a website to which all of my countless fans would flock. I wanted something cool. Something unique. Something that would define my internet persona for all eternity. And so, clutching my Sailor Moon comics and squeeing like the girl I was, I went searching for a Japanese name. Along came JEDI (Japanese-English Dictionary), and the search for a word that meant artist.
All the cool ones were taken. And there at the bottom of the list was an old, ‘archaic’ word that meant ‘artist/storyteller.’ Oh, I thought to myself. That’s perfect! I love to write, and I’m an artist! And it was available as a dot com. And so, with insane glee, I bought my website and began the journey forward. I’ve been anonymous all these years, but I’m ok with that. I still write, I still do my art. It’s not my first job, but I do it because I love to create something. And now, I do it because half of what I earn from this site goes to the Endangered Primate Foundation, a worthy cause.
